Bayou Lafourche North Water Control Structure

The Bayou Lafourche Emergency Closure Structure is part of the Mississippi River Re-Introduction into Bayou Lafourche, Pumping Capacity Improvements Project. This overall project is an environmental effort to increase the capacity of the current Donaldsonville pump station on the Mississippi River. By increasing this station to a minimum flow capacity of 1000 cubic feet per second (cfs), it will protect the drinking water supply for nearly 300,000 residents and benefit the coastal marshes in the Bayou Lafourche flow area.

The emergency closure structure is strategically located so that when closed due to a pump station shut down, it will create a reservoir of fresh water in the northern reaches of Bayou Lafourche.

Delta Coast Consultants is a subcontractor to Royal Engineers & Consultants, DCC provided the team with site, civil and structural design services, accomplish all surveying tasks, coordinate all geotechnical and hydraulic modeling efforts, and provided construction administration and inspection services to ensure a successful design of the project in order to deliver a successful project.
